pumping the gas pedal does nothing but open a butterfly to give air to the engine, possible that the pump you got is bad or the fuel pressure regulator is bad , its part of the assembly
Whoops someone is messing with you! The fuel filter is a screen assembly that is married with the high-pressure electric fuel pump which is buried in the gas tank. A replacement pump and filter assembly can be purchased for $90 but dealers usually charge $150-190. B/C of the high pressure in the fuel system (b/c of the EFI) a dealer or experienced Jeep mechanic is the best way to fix this problem. Expect to pay $300-500 to get the repair done. MY ADVICE - have everything related to the fuel pump, filter, and Guage Sensor replaced at one time. It will save you LOTS of problems.
