Please be so kind as to clarify your question. What is a Gather's player? Do you mean "father's" and if so, which player? The Odyssey comes with 2 different media players, plus there is also, on some models, a navigation system that uses DVD media. I have seen some people insert the wrong kind of media in the Odyssey's DVD player, and this includes trying to play home-made movies that are not encoded in the correct format.

Please take your car for a scan there must be an electrical issue.
