You may have a bad coil pack - try moving two of them around and see if the misfire follows the coil pack or stays at the same cylinder. If it follows the coil pack, get a new one. If it stays in the same cylinder, inspect your spark plug wires and make sure the plug is gapped correctly.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 OBD Codes P0171 and P0174

The P0420 code is a Catalytic converter efficiency code check the compression.Swap the #1 injector to a different location to see if the code follows.Test the coilpak. A cracked exhaust manifold is the most likely cause p0171 and 0174 Induction air leaks, vacuum or some kind fuel restriction, weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter etc.You also could have an exhaust leak near the upstream o2 sensor. If youtake it in they will probably use smoke to find out where the leak is.

I notice from your list that you have not run the fault codes. To save money it is essential that this is the first step in fault diagnosing as auto shops do it for free. Check for vacuum leaks in the brake booster and vent controls inside the car. Check for manifold leaks

1995 dodge neon cuts out during normal driving runs at full throttle

hi I assume this is a fuel injection vehicle and if so it sounds a lot like you have a throttle body problem or throttle sensor problem ,have you also checked that the fuel filter is not blocked, remove the fuel filter and blow thru it in the direction of flow and if your cheeks blow up while blowing thru the filter it is blocked or restricted -replace.
hope that helps .

the valve on the intake manifold that controls the idle and will speed up when AC is turned on ,i think the problem is here ,its not working right allowing air to by the throttle buttlefly causing the mixture to be out .so when ECU senses that the misture is weak it will overcompensate

VW Jetta 2001 wolfsburg edition 4 cylinder 1.8 turbo engine is having rough idle. check engine is on and it has a code for O2 sensor. the car drives fine in high speeds. the engine has not shut off only...

It sounds like either the mixture is bad or you need a new 02 sensor. If you have never replaced the o2 sensor I would get that done anyway. Next I would get a general tune up and have your throttle body cleaned.

Low idle, stalls when put into gear, engine light on, code reader finds p0506 what is the most likely cause. the ICV recall was just done, this problem was happening before the recall work was done

When is the code detected? The idle speed is less than the target idle speed by 100 rpm or more.
Possible Causes - Dirty throttle body
- Electric throttle control actuator misadjusted or damaged
- Faulty Electric throttle control actuator
- Intake air leak
- Poor electrical connection to the Intake Air Control (IAC) valve
Possible Solution If there are no intake leaks, clean throttle body, adjust engine idle and erase engine code. If the code comes back you may have to replaced the Electric Throttle Control Actuator (Motor) to repair the problem.

first; there are two) oil pressure switches on the car. you can replace the one till your blue in the face, and it will still come on. we ground that one; so it won't scare people to death.(1 in head.1 in block).<P>
Change fuel filter, and add a can of SEAFOAM to FULL tank of PREMIUM gas. Help it to idle 3-5 minutes.(this is the firsr year of the body change and engine change1.8, but they are good cars.)<p> After idle; drive somewhere where you can open it up for 10 miles or so. that should help alot.In he future, respond at [email protected]<p>

Jetta GLX 1998 (old body), when it rains heavy, car run rough

Sounds like you need new wires and or cap and rotor, had the same problem on my jetta 1.8L when I would drive it in heavy rain it would bog down and misfire. The water blows threw the rad right onto your distributor and wires causing the short (old and cracked or just defective). Try it out I'm sure that will fix it.
