I have a 2001 VW Passat, the fan and blower works but the air will not get cold. I've had it charged and still nothing..
My first question would be, when you got the system recharged, did the shop vacuum test the system for leaks? Did they add dye to the system? If your not sure, call them and ask. If they did add dye, then they can check for a leak with a flourescent light. If there are no leaks and the system is holding pressure, my next question would be, does the a/c compressor cycle on and off when the engine is running and the a/c is turned on? If it is, then I would next look at the controls. If the blend air doors are electrically operated, I'd look first for blown fuses and bad ground wires, as well as relays. If the controls are cable operated, check for binding in the cables. This may require removing the control head from the dash, if you cant see them from under the dash. Finally, make sure all of your vacuum lines are good. A lot of climate control systems use engine vacuum to operate the temp. mixture doors. A bad vacuum line will keep it from getting cold. Hope this helps.
Hi there. I’m assuming that when you had the A/C system re-charged the system was checked and was working according to specifications. However, what might be have been overlooked is the operation of the actual heater control system within the car. I’d firstly check that all the heater control flaps and motors/mechanisms are working as they should, e.g. it might be that although the temperature control is turned to the minimum/cold position, the actual internal heater flaps and controls are still allowing hot air to mix with your cold A/C air. Hope this helps, Scottech
