Check the fuel pressure with a known good gauge - sounds like pump may be failing. Does it only run poorly if it's below 1/2 tank or all the time?

I own a 2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4 truck. As I am stepping on the gas pedal, the truck starts to slow down and makes a rough sound as though something is not receiving gas. The best way to describe the sound...

I would try 3 things
1. when was the fuel filter replaced last? I would replace it if you don't know when and you may have ran into some bad gas. Replace it.
2. Same with the air filter.
3. Add fuel injector cleaner.
Hope this helps.

My dodge is a 1996 dodge ram 1500 with a 3.9 v6. my truck runs rough most of the time, i took it to autozone and they said that the check engine light was indicating that the truck was running too lean....

intermittent lean condition may be caused by leaking intake manifold gaskets. Get some carb cleaner and start the truck. Open the hood and spray carb cleaner on the intake manifold gaskets. If the engine reacts at all, you have a gasket leak. If you have questions, please let me know.

It appears to be idling low in drive, around 5000 RPM and stalls some times. It is the 3.2 Engine and runs fine when accelerating, but will stall some times when coasting or at a light. It does not seem to...

Well I would check the airfilter maybe its not getting enough air.If that doesn't work try unhooking the negative or positive cable from the battery.Leave unhooked for about 5 minutes and see if that helps sometimes that will reset the computer.

Truck dies when i stop or slow down

this may be the cause, try it and see if it helps, it is a very common cause of problems like yours.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

ROugh idle

there are 2 things that usually cause this, one is a dirty intake idle control valve and the other is hard engine mounts, I would say that both most likely apply to your car. try cleaning the intake with the following procedure from Ford.
