An audi 2006 a6 sline 3.2 quattro. A Oil leaking from the lower area.
The first thing is to determine exactly where the oil is coming from. If it is a sump gasket at the rear main area it will be easier to do that than pulling the transmission and flywheel to do it (if it is not the main seal) Next is it gear oil - reddish or if manual smells different to engine oil. IT auto and is reddish it may be an oil cooler line or a front seal in the torque converter. I am saying that if it is a rear main seal it will be a big job so make sure before you get involved.

Hello, it's not "easy" but, it's doable.
You'll need to follow the instructions and don't take shortcuts. ask for help if you need it.
Use this link to get an idea of what is involved. Ignore the "remove transmission" part. It can be done without removing the tranny. If you decide to do this buy a service manual to help you. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

SOURCE: rear main seal leaks..does this affect transmission??
A leaking rear main seal will not cause your transmission to leak.
The transmission has its own seal and should not leak because of the engine rear main seal.
Due to the labor involved in replacing the rear main seal on the engine, it is best if you replace the front transmission seal at the same time if possible.
Installation varies on different vehicles but the principles are the same.
SOURCE: How To Change Rear Brake Pads on Audi A6 2006
Remove the tires, Remove the calaper bolts, (small heads on them 12mm or so) Remove calaper, Pads are setting in a holder. Lube new pads with litheum grease and place in holder. (look at old pads, one or both may have small metel tab on one end) If the new pads have the tab, put that pad where the old pad with the tab was. (ie. tab to the inside) Press pistion in with a 'C' clamp. If it won't go in easly, it may screw in. If the parking brake cable is hooked to the calaper, it probly screws in. Use large pliers to screw in calaper piston. Place calaper over pads and install bolts (lube bolts) Rember to pump brakes befor driving . to get a solid peddle.
