Why engine light is on

Check light is a warning sign of something faulty, like sensors,relays,solenoids, and even a short. So to get rid of the check engine you must run codes with scanner and fix it. No other turn around possible. If you tamper with the function of the instrumental panel it will cost you more. Plus is unlawful mostly in the 51 States to modify such thing to pass emissions. Service engine soon or check engine light? Engine light needs scanned for codes. Service engine soon is for oil changes and such. To get rid of service lights, turn the key on, press the gas pedal three times within five seconds. The light will flash. turn the key off. it's reset. At least check or change the oil and filter though.

Most auto stores (Autozone) will use a scantool to tell you what the problem is & clear off the check engine light. It is a free service, but I'd suggest bringing a pen/paper to write down the error code & Google it afterwards. It's definitely handy for getting rid of the check engine light.

Have you checked your gas cap? What was the reason for the check engine light coming on? If just a cap issue the light should reset on it own. If you want to get rid of it just disconnect your negative battery terminal for a minute then reconnect. You will have reprogram your radio stations.

un hook the battery for 5 min this resets the computer,then if the light comes back on youve got a bad sensor prob the 02 senscor

This worked for me remove the- negative side of the battery cable wait for 3 minutes and then re-start the engine this may just be a temporary fix but it will probably get rid of that obnoxious light(s) for you good luck!
