The injectors need to be tested for pulses between the two wires (not to ground or +12) with the engine turning. With it still, you will get almost the same reading (only noticeable if you use a meer) from both wires since the injector has a coil of wire between the two terminals. The electronics may float between ground or +12 on the wires depending if they are powered up or not.

Do you have the appropriate pressure at the fuel rail? A V6 takes a lot more pressure than the 4 cylinder cars.

When you crank does the tach register a few hundred rpm? If not you could have one of the most common Fiero problems, a cooked ICM (Ignition Control Module). They can be found at autoparts stores for fifty bucks or so. Take your old one, have both checked, be sure to use the heat sink compound that comes with the module. Don't loose the little screws that hold it in. It's in the distributor, under the cap and rotor.

yep i seen it in happen .i was at a gas station a guy drove car to the gas station on empty.he fill his tank up .could not get it to crank .some cars you have to restart fuel pump when run out of gas. like chrysler.you use a scanner. but chervrolet you run low over heat damage the pump.it has to stay submerge gas to keep it cool. check fuel pump pressure.it should be 41 - 47 psi.

SOURCE: Too much fuel pumped into the carb. What to do?...adjust?...set?

The idle air control valve may be at fault, also the throttle position sensor may be telling the engine th wrong information and sending too much fuel, a couple other ideas come to mind but I not an expert. A faulty injector is one of them.....I another idea that may help as well: Vacuum Leak: The ECM will try to compensate for leaks up to a certain size. This will cause the ECM to compensate and possible send too much fuel to the engine...???? Good Luck

SOURCE: 88 fiero starts on it own, but wont stay running.

the brain is not sending the proper fuel pressure codes to the fuel rail to evenly distribute the fuel to the intake and fuel rail.
perform a fuel pressure test check on it ok? also run a diagnostic scan on it and see what codes come out.

1987 fiero 6 cyl. Started and drove for 2 miles. Car died. Will crank over. Am getting spark and can smell gas. Can hear the pump click on and off. Could it be the filter or the fuel pump?

the fuel pump should not just click it should go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrb and stop after it reaches a certain pressure-cheers Denny

Car wont stay running after it starts, runs around 500rpms then dies out, sometimes wont start. replaced fuel filter, and the main relay fuse. this problem started after replacing my gas tank.

fuel injected cars cannot vapor lock, so not the issue, when they replaced the fuel tank did they replace fuel pump? It should have been, but 2 things come to mind, they pinched wires when putting tank in and it shorts sporadically shutting off pump, look around with light and trace wires looking for any breaks in plastic coating, or fuel pump is failing.

I bought a 1985 fiero se 10 years ago...they had put a new clutch in it....i drove it home and noticed that there was something not quite right in the shifting...i readjusted the clutch/shift linkage and...

You are not getting fuel. EIther bad fuel pump or plugged fuel filter. No fuel pressure and it starts for a second with starting fluid, then there is no fuel being pumped to fuel lines.

My 86 fiero wont start ? i check the coil no sprak ,, went and got another one replace it the car start onecs then wont start again it cranks but no spark at all ... can some one help me plz

Could be a number of things. Check the distributor cap and rotor, check spark plug wires, check the actual spark plugs for worn or missing electrodes.

It also could be your distributor, but that needs to be checked out in a shop.

Have you checked the fuel? To start a car, it needs fuel + spark. Fuel pump working? Squirt starting fluid in the intake while trying to start it. If it starts for a second and dies, your problem is fuel delivery. If it doesnt, it's probably electrical.
