My 2004 GMC Yukon Denali wouldn't start. I tried jumping it and put gas into it. Eventually I was able to get it started by flooring the gas while turning the key. Once running, it idled extremely rough, and the RPMs get dropping so I would rev it up and give it a little gas at which time the exhaust spewed dark black smoke and started to smell. When i tried driving it, every time I slowed down or stopped the RPMs would drop out and while I was moving every time I hit the gas pedal the RPMs shot up and the truck takes off; Even when coming to a dead stop, I have to break harder because it is idling so high it wants to move. I left it parked over night, when i started it, it idled rough for approximately 2 minutes then seems to running almost fine, however it still seems to be idling high. So when coming to a full stop, I have to brake harder for the car to stop. Then when I let go of the brake to move again the trucks takes off as if I had floored it. I was able to drive it home. Any ideas?

I have experienced this problem on similar vehicles. You should try and replace the coolant temp sensor. If it is not reading the correct temp to the ecm, it will not get the right fuel map. Also, the cts will not always throw a code.

Check the spring on the throttle body. could be something to do with it.
