Check the power steering hoses. from the pump.. there's a high pressure line...if this one gets a crack, it'll leak alot...it's under pressure, the return line is not under pressure but it can leak just the same... wipe the hoses down and run the car, you'll be able to find the leak... also check the pump housing...for cracks.
Hoses are available from local parts houses... be sure to refill with only recommended type of fluid...don't cross mix types.

Power steering stopped working do i have to replace the alternator and the power streering pump or could it just be a Fuse?

Hi Sugatits (interesting name)
I'd start by checking the fluid level in the power steering reservoir.
Look for the source of a leak if it is low. Then repair.
The alternator or fuses should have nothing to do with this problem.
Cheers, and thanks for the smile.

Steering and brake power assist dont seem to be working - checked fuses and fluid level - ok - what next?

Your power streering works with a hydaulic pump driven by the engine belt, check the belt and pump.
Your power brakes works using engine vacuum, check for vaccum leaks from tubes that come form the engine intake plenum.

Power streering leak, smoke under hood for 1996 Geo Prizm

Yes , power steering fluid will smoke if it gets on a hot engine, especially on any part of the exhaust system. Barring anything else wrong with the engine such as a coolant leak, and the engine running OK otherwise, I would say that the smoke is from power steering fluid dripping or getting blown on the exhaust by the fan.

I have power streer / break fluid in the drivers well any idear what it could be my car is a almera 1.6 5 door 7500.00 miles

You have a leak, find it, fill the power steering and brake fluid resevoirs to the top, check after a day, 2 days, 5 days, a week etc whichever one goes down you know the leaking system. Find the leak, fix it or pay someone to fix it.

Power steering is leaking

It could be either of 2 things, the Pressure hose coming from your Power steering container (Holding your power streering fluid, or your return Line. the power steering pressure hose costs any where from $35-$60 dollars and is a pain in the **** to do your self on a malibu. the return line is a length of hose that is cut for you, costs anywhere from $3 -$12 - this is also a pain in the ****, due to the limited amount of room to work with and as well as the power steering fluid leaking on you. Your bet bet is to fix it yourself, cause they will cost you alot to take it in for repair unless you got the cash. Always remember to Block (tires) your vehicle anytime you are working underneathe it for safety reasons and to have someone watching you just in case ;)

I ASSUME IT IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP YOU REFER TO GRIP THE PULLEY ON THE PUMP ENGINE OFF OF COURSE WIGGLE BACK AND FORTH SEE IF ANY LOST MOTION AROUND SHAFT IF SO REPLACE PUMP IF NOT DRY OFF ALL FITTING WITH DRY RAGS REFILL PUMP IF NEEDS FLUID ,RESTART CAR AND SEE IF YOU CAN DETERMINE WHERE LEAK IS COMING FROM , CAUTION IF YOU HAVE LOST MOTION AROUND SHAFT REPAIR @ IMMEDIATELY OR YOU STAND THE RISK OF DAMAGE TO MANY OTHER ITEMS IF IT GIVE IT UP
