At the garage it was put on a machine and everything was reset. They think it could be something to do with the turbo. Is this model prone to turbo troubles that you know of? It is running again and the mechanic said to try and recreate the problem to see if it would happen again. What would your thoughts be? Thanks
Suggest that the engine was overloaded during the incline with the float. At low speeds the cooling is only through the electric fans at the radiator.
Check the user manual for trailer weight limitations. If the vehicle is not equipped with a heavy duty trailer package the transmission may also have overheated during the grade.
The car was likely behaving normally in that any Land Cruiser (equipped as yours) that was connected would have that same result because the load was above the design limits.
Caution in overloading because permanent damage to the drive train engine can occur.
Suggest using a vehicle (ie. Ford 250 truck) qualified to pull a double horse trailer.
Hope this helps?.

You should get the problem code ran at a shop or auto parts store. My moms 2003 Toyota Echo check engine light came on and it had a slight misfire, I replaced all the sparkplugs about $20 and no check light.
Hope this was helpful
SOURCE: malfunction indicator lamp in my toyota corolla is on how i fix?
The check engine light also called the malfunction indicator comes only when the computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

i hope this is under warranty, they must of tried a reprogram on the computer and that didnt help, i would get something in writing of this problemjust for your protection in the future, this is hard to say whats wrong without knowing the engine codes that the computer stored when the lights were turned on, when ever the computer or computers see a problem it turns the light on for that system to warn you and then stores a code that the shop gets with a scan tool, the codes will tell them what has failed and from there they do some testing and repair, now this testing sometimes is not so easy to check, there are so many components and sensors that can cause a problem that some times it takes a few tries but again without knowing exactly whats wrong its hard to say, the only thing is that you dont end up paying for the same repair again, good luck.
