2003 Ford Taurus SES wont start and theft light blinking

The other day my 2003 Ford Taurus SES suddenly would not start! I unhooked the batt. for 1 hr or more hoping it would reset, but of course that didnt work. I also tried another method of locking the doors for 60 sec. and then turning the key left for 30 sec. then right. This also of course did not work. All lights and features in the car work but when you try to start it all you here is the click of the starter then nothing. At that time all the idiot lights on the dash light up. When you turn the key back the theft light begins to blink again. Help! I will try anything!

Does the theft light flash when trying to start the car? (All you here is the click of the starter)? Bad cables , battery or connections - nothing to do with theft light (anti-theft or PATS system) PATS system disables the starter from working if the vehicle thinks it's being stolen. Would not hear any clicking .

Do you know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohmmeter to test automotive electrical circuits ? Magical fixes rarely work.

Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop.

The users guide in the glove box tells you what to do if IMMO fails.
1: use the other key it came with new. (not at both in cab same time)
2: SCAN the OBD2 port, for IMMO errors there sure will be.
3: get the car serviced,
that is a nut shell , read the guide.
if lucky only the key is bad and locksmith can fix that, ask them,.

do all testing with a good battery fully charged
if not the starter can not work.
or try jumper cable cranking starts.
battery cables 2 cables 4 end lugs not loose and not rusty. but tight.

IMMO will fail if battery is weak. as will other electronics on the car.
marvin i think nails this.

battery 101 tricks?
1: get battery tested in any shop or auto store, load testing.
2: barrow a good battery from 2nd good car.
3: charge the battery using charger tool, 15amps is best at least.
a 4 hour charge is best.
4: jumper cable starts ,you. (own a cable set),or barrow them.
5: or call AAA auto club tow and watch them do it.?
most IMMO do not cut cranking, (well some rare do)
6: if starter dead with above, crank the engine in Neutral not park.

2001 ford taurus wont start

I see that you replaced battery, coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Did you or do you have a check engine light or SES light on? If you did not I agree with the problem being Anti theft which includes a replacement key not having a transponder chip. BUT at the same time it could be something as simple as dirty battery post or bad battery cables, since sometimes it does start. I RECOMMEND CHECKING THE BATTERY CABLES FIRST. let me know if this works for you.

My taurus wont start or even turn over battery connections all ok. my theft light is blinking faster than normal could this be a reason for not starting? if so what do i do or try? im frustrated......

yes the fast blinking theft light indicates that theft mode is activated. you wont be able to start the vehicle until you have the keys reprogrammed at your local ford dealer.

My ford taurus just wont start

check that the small [exciter wire] is not loose or disconnected at the starter motor solenoide !
It could also be a bad starter relay!
try bridging the exciter terminal to the posative [big cable ] on the starter solenoide with a screwdriver or a piece of heavy guage wire to see if the starter activates!
if it works would it could be a faulty relay

P0153 error code for 2000 Ford Taurus SES V6 3.0L

the tech is right.. the trouble codes do not tell you what is wrong with the car... they just give you a general area to look in which involves testing multiple components and sensors. if the tech quoted you for and hour diag time i would say that you should at least expext to spend somewhere in the 300$ area depending on part cost.

2001 ford taurus wont start and anti-theft light is blinking

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

2001 ford taurus wont start and anti-theft light is blinking

make sure battery is fully charged and have tested for a weak cell and check out the alternator and the drive belt and if the car has over 40,000miles it needs a tune up plugs wires fuel filter and if all this fails have the timing checked and don't forget the crank sensor to have it checked
