TCS light After installing new ignition electrical harness, the ABS and TCS lights come on after a short while moving in drive.Have disconnected negative terminal from battery to reset ECU and removed the proper fuses to also try to reset but still these lights come on. ?? HAVE NOT PULLED CODES FOR ABS AND TCS. all had been working fine before my ownership of the last 24,000 miles. 191,000 miles on this vehichle now.

Tell your machanic to check the wheel speed sensor. You might end up changing a bearing or just living with the lights on.

The SRS computer needs to be reset, if you dont have a repair manual i would first suggest finding one for each car. The basic principal is that you jumper the diagnostic plug (under the glove box in the RL). The next step I believe is that you must depress the TCS button, then while holding it down you turn the key to on, continue to hold the TCS button for 15 sec and then let off. The check engine light should then blink really quick a few times and that means its reset. Im reciting this from memory so dont quote me on it. I have done it before for the RL but not the integra, id really suggest finding a repair manual though.

A problem wthi the ABS system may cause both lights to come on. If it goes on and off you may have a wheel speed sensor that is acting up

these lights are not like a check engine light that stays on with a memory code. the only way to turn these lights off is to fix the problem.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  3. Use a socket such as a crowfoot wrench to remove oxygen sensor.

To Install:

NOTE When replacing an O2 Sensor, the PCM RAM memory must be cleared, either by disconnecting the PCM C-1 connector or momentarily disconnecting the Battery negative terminal. The NGC learns the characteristics of each O2 heater element and these old values should be cleared when installing a new O2 sensor. The customer may experience driveability issues if this is not performed.
  1. After removing the sensor, the threads must be cleaned with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If reusing the original sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound such as Loctite 771- 64 or equivalent. New sensors have compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating. Tighten the sensor to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
  2. Connect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  3. Install the wiring clip to the heat shield.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

3.8L Downstream Sensor

  2. Raise and support vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Use a socket such as a crowfoot wrench to remove oxygen sensor.

Testing


NOTE Allow the O2 Sensor to cool down before conducting the test. The O2 Sensor voltage should stabilize at 5.0 volts. Raising the hood may help in reducing under hood temps quicker.

  1. Turn the ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, actuate the O2 Heater Test.
  2. With the scan tool, monitor O2 Sensor voltage for at least 2 minutes. Does the O2 Sensor voltage stay above 4.5 volts- If so, sensor is normal.
  3. If voltage does not stay above 4.5v as indicated, check wiring and connectors. Check O2 sensor for contamination.
  4. If wiring from the O2 sensor is damaged, DO NOT repair it; replace the O2 sensor.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Allow the O2 sensor to cool down to room temperature.
  6. Disconnect the O2 Sensor harness connector.
  7. Measure the resistance across the O2 Sensor Heater element component side. Resistance for either O2 Sensor should be 2.1-2.7 ohms.
  8. If the O2 Sensor is not within range, turn the ignition off.
  9. Disconnect the O2 Sensor harness connector. Turn the ignition to ON; engine not running.
  10. With the proper scan tool, actuate the O2 Heater Test.
  11. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the O2 Heater Control circuit in the O2 Sensor harness connector.
  12. If the test light illuminates brightly and flashes on and off, replace the O2 Sensor.
  13. Confirm the repair with the appropriate Verification Test.
  14. Turn the ignition off.
  15. Disconnect the O2 Sensor harness connector.
  16. Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
  17. Measure the resistance between ground and the O2 Heater Control circuit in the O2 Sensor harness connector.
  18. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms- If yes, repair the short to ground in the O2 Sensor Heater Control circuit. If resistance is okay, go to step 20.
  19. Confirm the repair.
  20. If resistance was okay when measured in step 17, check the PCM harness connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
  21. If the resistance is still not within specified range, replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
  22. Confirm the repair.

I have a mitsubishi montero 1999 and the code is p1720

The Engine Control Module (ECM) receives two vehicle speed sensor signals via the Control Area Network (CAN) communication line. One is sent from Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) / Traction Control System (TCS) / Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control unit, and the other is from Transmission Control Module (TCM). How does the alternator bracket go on

Remove the accessory drive belt. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the generator electrical connector. Autostick no longer works??? Also need to know where the ABS Module is located so i can disconnect it

Your TripTronic shifter doesn't work because of a bad ground connection to a solenoid located in the transmission pan.
The ABS module is under the hood, and shouldn't be too far from the brake master cylinder. It has 4 metal tubes going in, and 4 going out. It has two electrical connectors, one on the top where the retaining clip slides out, then pull upward to disconnect harness. The other is on the bottom with a more standard clip and pull down to release harness.
Do not disconnect any of the metal brake lines to the pump, or your brakes will not operate. The control module is held on to the pump by 6 torx screws. Only remove for repair, because disconnection will not turn off the warning lights. Repairs can be done for under $200 at modulemaster.com and the car will drive with out it.
Getting the ABS control back means betting the TCS back as well. Also known as the ElectronicBrake&TractionControlSystem EBTCS

How to change ignition switch

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column shroud and lower the steering column.
  3. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical harness connector.
  4. Remove the 2 nuts retaining the ignition switch to the steering column housing.
  5. Lift the ignition switch upward to disengage the actuator rod from the switch and remove the switch.

To install:
When installing the ignition switch, both the locking mechanism at the top of the column and the switch itself must be in the LOCK position for correct adjustment. To hold the mechanical parts of the column in the LOCK position, move the shift lever into PARK (with automatic transmissions) or REVERSE (with manual transmissions), turn the key to the LOCK position, and remove the key. New replacement switches, when received, are already pinned in the LOCK position by a metal shipping pin inserted in a locking hole on the side of the switch.
  1. Engage the actuator rod in the ignition switch.
  2. Place the ignition switch on the steering column housing and loosely install the 2 retaining nuts.
  3. Move the switch up or down along the column to locate the mid-position of the actuator rod lash, then tighten the retaining nuts to 47-64 inch lbs. (5-7 Nm).
  4. Raise the steering column into position at instrument panel. Install steering column shroud.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Remove the locking pin, connect the negative battery cable, and verify that the engine will only crank in PARK and NEUTRAL . Also check to make certain that the start circuit cannot be actuated in the DRIVE and REVERSE positions.

AWD Light stays on

3rd dealer stated that the problem was in the differential pump valve, when the temperture sensor was giving a false reading and disconnecting the rear wheel drive. Replaced with GM Part 88896067, and it solved the problem. Mechanic stated that if it is ONLY the AWD light, then this is usually the problem. If the ABS Disable light also goes on, then it is the harness on the wheel sensor.
