P1582 Idling Speed Regulation Adaptation Limit Reached
This fault can be caused by several factors, one being a dirty throttle body. Another could be a small vacuum leak. The last could be a loose timing belt. First I would check and make sure the timing belt is not too loose. Very common cause. Then if you are sure that you don't have any broken vacuum lines, and the PCV tube is not torn, then remove and clean the throttle body. Note that clearing the fault will not always keep it from coming back. You will need to disconnect both battery cables, and touch them together, this will cause the ECM to reboot and reset all learned values for idle adaptation. You can then clear the faults. If you fail to clear the learned values the fault will come right back as soon as you start the vehicle. Make sure you have the radio code as you will need to reset the anti theft code on the radio.maybe Super VAG K+CAN V4.8 can help you solve this problem.

For the Volkswagen cars the Throttle body is actuated by a motor and sensor. The motor opens and closes the throttle at idle to allow more or less fuel in as needed. Over the miles as the car engine ages and accumulates dirt the Engine control unit has to push the motor rod out a little further to allow more air into the engine. The P1582 code is thrown when the motor of the TB is at its end of travel and cannot go any further. If you are VERY technical and DIY with cars you can possibly clean it but its a laborious task. Here are instructions for a Jetta (you have similar engine) and has its dangers for further damage. http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed/campingart/jettatech/p1582/index.htmOtherwise it might be best to have yoru dealer or mechanic replace the Throttle body and clear the code. The repair will require VAGCOM a Volkswagen software program to recode teh ECU and set timing, mixture, etc after eitehr cleaning or replacement. The lin
