www.alldata.com - it's $25 for a year-long subscription and gives you troubleshooting charts, parts diagrams, exploded diagrams of every system on the car, etc - it's an online factory service manual. Excellent resource that is well worth the small cost.

SOURCE: my 1992 lexus ls 400 keeps stalling and idleis very low

Look for a small electric motor near the accelerator cable and near the top of the valve cover.

It's call IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) motor.

It's job is to increase the idle when load is added.
Example: turning on headlight, turning on AC.

Testing it is simple.

Warm up you car for 10 minutes.

Locate the IAC motor

turn on loads.....AC,headlights,etc

The motor should move the idle up

If the motor does not increase the RPM then it can be stick.

Try to give it few gentle taps to free up the gears.

It can be clean if your are up to it.

This electrical motor is very expensive. Please handle it with care.

The other trouble spot are

old accelerator cable

TPS Throttle position sensor

====

I will do a simple tune up and gas treatment before starting to replace any parts.

Why do my 1993 lexus ls 400 shut off after driving 4 to 6 miles and restart after sitting for a few minutes but shut off again?

Is your check engine light coming on? Sounds as if something is getting hot and then cooling down my research points to a known fault of your year and type of vehicle The electronic control module has capacitors in it that are sub grade and they melt down after awhile and have been known to cause this as well as a bunch of other driveability issues. Replace your ECM and let me know

The traction lock light flashes on the dash panel on my 1993 Lexus LS 400 and the engine shuts off. It will crank up immediately after shutting off at times and some times it won't.

BEST TO GET VECHICLE CODE SCAN TO SEE WHAT CAUSING TRACTION LIGHT TO FLASH. YOU HAVE PROBLEM IN ECM AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM.

My 1990 Lexus LS 400 stalls unexpedly (at any speed). When put in neutral, it starts up and runs fine for a few minutes then stalls again. Why?

Your fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator are not supplying constant fuel pressure. Too much or too little is causing it to kill. You can pull the vacuum line from the regulaor and check for gas. If there is none, you need a pump, it is weak.

1990 Lexus Ls 400. What tempture is my car suppose to run at?

your car should not be near that, it should stay at the middle line or a little under. You need to keep an eye on your radiator fluid level. I just changed the radiator and thermostat in my wifes car. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR IF ITS RUNNING THAT HOT, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MOTOR!!!

Dashboard works intermittently. Engine wont fire for awhile after about one hours use. Will start after a "cooldown" period of about 15-30 minutes.

I am not a Lexus expert, instead I am a Ford expert. However, I expeienced this type of problem once on a Ford and it ended up being the ignition switch, not the key cylinder but the electrical part. The ignition switch handles all the current flow for everthing that comes on when the key is turned to "ON".
WHen the current flow got heavy with the a/c blower on high, it overheated the switch. Ended up replacing the switch and installing a 12 gauge wire on the switch to act as a heat sink for the wire that feeds the blower motor.
Motors, rear defroster, horns and cig lighter take a lot of current to run.

good luck. report back on findings. I'm curious.
