Burning plastic smell when cold out run heater and fan inside car and out

Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.

Heater fan does not work

The fan motor is either burning out or the control for the fan is burned out and unable to change the speeds. If the fan is running I would start with the speed control switch, unlikely at this point that the fan motor is bad.

My 2003 ford focus heats up every once in a while I turn the heater on full blast it goes down to normal. Does anyone have any idea what maybe the problem

Something is wrong with the cooling system. You are using the heater and the heater fan as a secondary radiator and fan. The problem could be a temperature sensor on the engine or a burned out heater fan motor on the radiator/fan assembly. It could also be a fuse in the fan circuit. Your cooling system still has an adequate level of coolant or the heater trick would not work. Fix it soon. Eventually you will overheat the engine and loose your coolant.

Check the wire connections at the blower motor and fan resistor, they are located under dash on passenger side. They sometimes have corrosion that burns the plastic connector. The resistor is responsible for all fan speeds below high. Hope this helps, let me know.

2003 Saturn, DOHC V6, burning smell in interior after car warms.

if the smell only comes on when the heater is on try pulling the blower motor mice like to build nests in the blower motor housing.

Heater fan only works on high speed

usually when the blower motor gets old its starts to draw more current to run. which can pop fuses, burn out resistors and melt wires. also when you go to replace the resistor check the connector for signs of melting or burning you may end up having to replace that conector

2001durango slt no heat in front

I have a 2001 Black Durango that had the same problem. There is a resister to the right of the ac/heat blower (underneath the dash on passaenger side). This needs to be replaced. You might want to replace the motor as well. Both are real easy. I had replaced the resister first and everthing worked fine for about 6 months and then my ac/heat would only works on high. I replaced the motor and now it works just fine. The resister was about $15 at dealership and the motor is prob around $40-$50. I hopes this helps. Good Luck!
