2006 bmw 530d E60 does not engage drive gear. Have changed atf and it only engages in reverse gear. What can be the problem?

The car gave a transmission warning saying that it was faulty. I went to town one day and the car would not engage gears when I put it into drive. It only engaged reverse. I have changed the automatic transmission fluid with fluid from BMW dealer. now the car still does not engage drive

no checking the trans fluid. There is a drain and fill plug. Jack up the car, keep it level, at hot temp, remove fill plug, if a little fluid comes out, it is at the correct level. know the difference between the drain and fill plug. the fill plug is higher.

2006 Nissan Frontier will change to all gears but will only engage in neutral (automatic transmission). The dash shows N for neutral no matter what gear you put it in. Will not even engage in park

Could be a number of things, depending on the particular vehicle. The engine is turning, I'm assuming. if you aren't getting engagement, the first thing I'd look at is whether you have sufficient Automatic Transmission Fluid in the unit. Look at your owners manual, or use a search engine to look for 'how to check ATF on make/model/year vehicle', which should point you in the right direction.

Galant vrg-gdi-when i engage reverse the car stalls--but once you start moving --ok

You vehicle uses a Idle air control motor,(IAC) when you put a load on the vehicle (Drive or reverse) the ECM detects the load and idles up the IAC, even for the A/C (air conditioner) You can try a throttle body cleaning. or a new IAC

After changing ATF the car cannot engage rfeverse gear

after changing the fluid drive it so it shifts through all the gears and then check the level of the fluid with the engine running in park if its low it will cause it not to engage in reverse also if you changed the atf filter make sure the new one is tight if it is lose this can also prevent it from going in reverse

2003 jeep wrangler 4x4 auto...transmission is not engaging at all, i.e.not in park, drive, reverse, 2wd, 4hi or 4low...how do I fix it?

Did you check your ATF level? I have an ATF leak somewhere and when my ATF gets really low my auto trans will keep slipping out of gear until I dump another quart or two of ATF fluid into the trans.

Honda Jazz Auto delay in engaging into gear

i would expect the ATF to be lower when engine running as it is being pumped around the gearbox, as for the delay i would advise to get the OBD codes read , as this could give you a code number that will tell you what the problem is.The fluid colour sounds fine , it's when the ATF gets a dark brown colour i would advise changing. If you check the ATF again smell the fluid on the dip stick , if smells like a burnt type of smell then the ATF cooling component may not be working as well as should be,if so will require further investigation , hope this helps and gives you somewhere to start your investigations into this problem

I have a 1989 camry the tramsmission was starting to slip on occassion in drive and reverse. While driving down the street without any warning I lost drive and reverse completely. Is there a vacuume pump...

Hi. It is not over for the transmission. But it is for the clutch system inside. Yes, the automatic transmissions got clutch(es) inside as well, they just work with the principle of centrifugal force. Once 1st gear reaches max rev, 2nd gear engages due to the mechanical energy generated inside, so forth and so on, ergo moving gears back and forth depending on speed. The trans repair costs for this camry should be around $500-$800 plus the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid). This repair, plus the adequate ATF, most preferably toyota ATF, will give your transmission life another 120,000 miles when 30,000 mile checks are made on time. Hope this will help.
