I just bought a 2000 cavalier and the check engine light is on as well as the track off and abs, and when I checked the oil smoke was coming out the dip stick hole and after I let it idle for 30 seconds it makes a big cloud of exhaust smoke, what can be the problems?

From you description I am thinking that the motor needs a rebuild . Smoke out of the dip stick hole is an indication of fire in the sump burning on hot oil gases. The fire is from compression and ignition by-passing the rings into the sump. The idle and resulting smoke is from failed valve stem seals and oil by passing the oil ring into the combustion chamber. The engine light is probably from the O sensors failing to control the ECM. The best check of this is to have a compression test done on the engine to check the internal condition

SOURCE: White Smoke From Tail Pipe/Exhaust

It often means that you are burning antifreeze. You asked if it needs antifreeze, have you noticed any leaking out of the reservoir tank while you are running it? Sometimes when the head gasket goes it will produce a passage for the antifreeze to pass from the capillaries into the combustion chamber. It is easy to check if you have an air compressor. Remove one of the rear sparkplugs and the radiator cap. Fill the radiator and then push some air into the sparkplug hole (get a good seal in case a valve is open). Repeat with all the cylinders and watch for air bubbles coming up into the radiator. If bubbles come up or fluid is pumped out, the head gasket is blown and must be replaced. It is more likely to happen at the back of the engine because it is farthest away from the fan and therefore gets less cooling. Also check your oil for discoloration. If it is a brownish color it could mean your oil and antifreeze are mixing and has the potential to damage your bearings

I have a 2000 chevy Cavalier 2.2, the service light track off and ABS lights are on. I replaced the ABS sensor and the lights are still on. How do I fix it.

check fuses and relays --their is more than one sensor-also if the hub is bad replacing the sensor will not fix problem --check and clean all the sensors and harness connections sometimes the debris interferes with the sensor

Check oil light on 1996 chevy cavalier. guy who sold me said that it was easy fix if i bought the part. but the check oil light keeps coming on and off. there is a rattling noise in the back so im not...

My question is that if it was an easy fix why didn't he fix it? I would put a manual oil pressure gauge on the engine to check the oil pressure. When an oil light comes on that is not good. It may just have a bad oil pressure sending unit but I would confirm that with a manual gauge which you can buy at any parts store for pretty cheap. If you are hearing rattling noises from the engine I would suspect internal engine problems especially if you don't have good oil pressure. Is the oil up to the correct level? It may be something little but I would want to know what my oil pressure is and if it's not good I would try to take the car back and demand my money back because that car is not worth $2000 if it needs major work. Good luck.

2000 Chev Cavalier, warning lights are coming on

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine, Service Engine Soon, ABS Or TC lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. The number of codes that can turn the light on number in the hundreds. I would take it to a service center you trust and let then come up with a solution. Sometimes a problem in one system will turn light on for other systems that communicate with it, but it doesn't mean there is a problem in all of the systems.
