Engine 4.6is 90000 miles,My 2003 x5 bmw 4.6is, makes a knocking noise in the Engine upon stating it up, but usualy goes away after a few seconds, what can be it?
Sounds like excess bearing clearance, when the engine sits overnight the oil between the bearings and the crankshaft is able to run back into the oil pan. When you first start it up it takes a few seconds for the oil pump to fill the spaces back up and you get some clatter.

BMW has a free fix for that! It's a factory recall with the pixels. Check with your dealer.

Depends on the engine, if its a M62, its under the hood, torwards the front drivers side. If it a N62, it is on the underside of the vehicle, next to the oil drain plug. Its the black plastic housing with a 6mm allen bolt in it(thats used to drain the oil out before removal)

It might be a faulty power steering pump. Try checking the level of the power steering fluid. It is probably best you have your power steering system checked by a mechanic.
Does the noise occur only when the vehicle is moving?
Try moving the steering wheel from side to side, while stationary (but don't do it too often, or you might damage something). If the noise is still present when the car is stationary, then it probably is the power steering system.
If the noise only occurs while the vehicle is moving, it could be a problem with the differential/final drive, or even wheel bearings.

sound like throttle position sensor.have it check out.also check air duct connected to mass air flow sensor and throttle body.if air duct is loose or off.it will cause severe hesitation.
