SOURCE: spark plug firing order

check the ignition coil power source...get a test light & check for power with the key on @ the positive side of the coil...if it does have power have a friend crank the engine over & check the negative side for a flashing light..if it does then make sure you have spark @ the coil if not replace the coil

SOURCE: spark plugs

You have to remove the intake (and the manifold) just to get to them. They are on the engine like every other car but access is trying because you can't even see them until you start removing the above items. If you still aren't sure where all of this is, follow the plug wires from the coil pack to the plugs. If it does not have wires, it will have individual coils on top of each plug. Unbolt each coil and pull it up. The plug is under it. On your V6, they should be located on the side.
This is very tricky on this vehicle. It is, of course, recommended to take it to a shop. Some special tools may be required.

Why is there cylinder 2 misfire?

It may just be a coil breaking down or a bad spark plug. Try swapping one of the coils over with the faulty one and see if the misfire happens on that cylinder and cylinder 2 runs fine. If it does then swap the faulty one for a new coil. Don't know about your car but most now have individual coils for each cylinder that fit directly onto each spark plug.

Where are the spark plugs located in an 2002 Mazda tribute

On a Mazda Tribute you must remove the plastic engine cover. Once that is removed you should see the spark plugs. They will be on the top of the engine with caps on them. you must undo the cap and remove it on each spark plug to have access to the spark plug.

  3. Disconnect the 4 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
NOTE When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal. Remove the 4 bolts and the ignition coil-on-plugs.

WARNING Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.

NOTE Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
  4. Remove the 4 spark plugs.

To install:
  1. Inspect the spark plugs, as outlined in this section.
  2. Adjust the spark plug gap, as necessary, to 1.25-1.35mm (0.049-0.053 in.).
WARNING Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
  3. Install the spark plugs and tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
NOTE Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
  4. Install the 4 ignition coils and bolts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. Connect the 4 ignition coil electrical connectors.
  6. Install the alternator air inlet duct and the 2 nuts and the bolt. Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

2006 3: change spark plugs...

The procedure to replace spark plugs in Mazda -3 2006 model is as follows:--
1)  Start by disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery.
2)  Now remove the black plastic cover from the top of the engine. It snaps into place, so just pull straight up.
3) The four cylindrical gizmo's are the coils which mount directly above the four spark plugs.
4)  Remove the four bolts (studs) that are securing the coils, and pull the connections straight up off the spark-plugs. Remove the plugs with a deep socket, or spark-plug socket.
5)  You may have to grasp the plugs with a needle nose pliers to get them out after loosening them.
6) Install the new spark plugs in reverse method and refit all the wires and bolts which you removed.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
