I have a 2004 E55 and the radio periodically makes a chirping/feedback sound. How do i fix this?

this happens when the cd changer is going bad it is posible that the radio will play again if not the cd changer needs to be remove and the fiber optic cable loop needs to be plug back with out the cd changer

It may be a bad serpentine belt or pulley or may be a bad bearing on an alternator or water pump or even a power steering pump or tensioner. Here is my suggestion when this noise is hear with vehicle running pour/spary belts with water and see if this noise get louder or goes away. If it does either then the belt is worn and replacing it will solve this problem. If there is NO difference then you will have to disconnect the belt and check each pulley individually to see which one is make this noise, this can be done by turning the pulley by hand. when it found replace that pully/part will fix the problem. Hi, You need to replace the alarm siren. It is also a module. It is located in the right front fender well. The reason they go bad is because they are located in a place where they get wet.

I'am an M.B. tech- I do not beleive that this radio is mp3 compatable- iknow that the input you are refering to is used for ipod use. It very well could be that the head unit has to be programed(basically informed0 for an mp3- i would call the service dept. and ask to talk to ther best audio tech savay mechanic. Most likley the service writer wouldn.t know or give you false information because they do not stay on top of all the little tecnical changes. This fiber optic system has many programing features- most have to be done with as sds laptop(dealer software only) good luck
