Replace outer door handle

Just take off the inner door panel, then you will see where the handle is bolted on from, just unbolt it, unhook the linkage on it and install the new handle doing the reverse. Piece of cake.

remove the door trim and inside at the handle you will see 2-3 nuts that hold the handle in the outer skin of the door.

Remove the door's inner (interior) panel and inspect the trailing edge of the inside of the door. You should be able to see the door linkage from both the inner door handle and (what's left) of the outer handle (try moving the inner handle to see how the linkage is routed. I suspect that when the outer handle broke, its linkage dropped onto the inner handle's linkage and jammed it. With a long screwdriver, try moving the inner handle linkage to release the door latch and then replace the outer handle and its linkage (a salvage yard may be the best source and a Mitchell body repair manual should show hoe the linkage is routed and attached. I have been quoted $140.00 to get this done bloody rip off..

the outer handle is connected to the lock with a steel rod. If the outer handle has broken or the clip that holds the rod onto that handle has broken, then thats what you need to replace. You will need to remove the inside door trim to access the locks and rods. Remove the door trim as best you can if you are unable to open the door at all and reach into the door to access the inner door lock rod. Pulling or pushing the rod should allow you to open the door and remove the trim completely.
If there is no obvious damage to the outer door lock, check where the outer door handle rod connects to the lock itself as the clips holding the rods in place can fail. If the clips have failed, replace them with new clips from the vehicle manufacturer..

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can remove the inner door handle and replace with new one. If it's your outer door handle, pull back the weather seal and disconnect the linkage to the outer door handle and then remove the bolts securing the outer handle to the door

I don't think you need to remove the outer door handle.I hope this helps and google search a bit on it and you will get the answer.According to my experience,to replace the window you don't need to remove to outside door handle..Hope this helps.
