Trans work is better to be left to an expert, any way you having a problem in the reverse drum end plate( damaged), internal pressure leakage can cause severe damage to clutch and steel plates, major rebuilt may be needed, good luck.

SOURCE: car won't go in reverse

If the vehcile is V6,then the trans model is the A540E,and if it is the 4 cylinder engine, the trans model is an A140E.Both are 4 speed overdrive transmissions, and sorry to report that on just abot every automatic trans on the road, reverse gear failure is almost always a mechanical problem inside the transmission because there are no shift solenoids involved with reverse as with forward gears. And you did say the forward gears were fine.Good luck.

SOURCE: 1994 Toyota Camry automatic. All forward no reverse

are you sure it is first gear it is making when in 1. In park does the car lock up if you try to push it with the handbrake off. If not your problem is adjustment of the cable i.e. although the lever is in reverse the gearbox isn't.

I have all gears but reverse and when in park and neutral and gas pedal is pressed the car moves forward, why?

well could be two things. either your transmission has crapped out on you. or you have a shifter linkage issue. which means when the car is in park its not really in park. try this. move the shifter and see if the car moves in a different gear then what it says it is in . so if it moves in neutral it could be drive and reverse is neutral. if it does not reverse at all. time for a new trany is my guess.

We have an auto toyota camry lumiere G. the gears wont always engage. sometimes the reverse wont work either. we notice that when the car is running in neutral the oil level for the gearbox doesnt go down....

Well it sounds like you have a bad problem but we will try and find out why.
First the gear box pump is driven by the engine and that is the flywheel as the torque convertor which is bolted to it is the gearbox pump and 5 out of 10 that is the problem but also theselector on the side of the box could also be loose and needs tighten and adjusting as the pump supplys the pressure to the drive bands both forward and reverse but the oil level dosent have to move as if the bands are good then the most iol they will use is about 1/2 ltr max .So you might find that you need a change over convertor or a new filter in the Gear Box. either way its a Auto Matic Shop job ..

I need to know why my car keeps moving when i put

When you have the vehicle in Neutral it should roll. If it rolls in Park you have a transmission problem. If your talking about a few inches when it is on a hill it is just play in the gears and you should use the Emergency brake when parking in that area to reduce strain on the Transmission.

1993 camry le 6cly will not roll backwards. can jack up all wheels and all free. car will move forward bur locks up as in park when reversing.bye the way the service brakes and the hand brake are free.it...

It sounds like a problem with the reverse gear and you're probably going to have to have a transmission shop look at it,I'm assuming it locks when it's running and you shift into reverse.
