I have a 1997 Lexus ES 300. I need to replace the Thermostat. Is it located in the metal housing where the Radiator hose attaches to the engine? Do I need to remove the hose from the metal housing or can I just remove the housing where it is bolted to the engine? Thanks.
The t-stat is on the left side of the engine. There are three bolt and it is a mother to get to. There are things you need to remove like heater hoses and the engine temp wires and a bolt hold part of the radiator hose. I went to autozone.com and found the location of the t-stat and directions. However, the es300 did not have a manual with it, but the toyota camry has the same engine, and is pretty much the same car. I looked up the camry with the six cylinder and scrolled down to the pictures to find it. It is do-able, but it is not like an old ford.
Yup just follow the hose. remove hose from water neck and remove 2 bolts. let me know how it worked for you.richie
