That is an "out of parameter" warning, indicating that the position sensor for the overdrive solenoid is disconnected, malfunctioning, or detecting that your overdrive solenoid is out of position. My guess is that the sensor came disconnected but check to be sure.

I have 2002 fx4 lariat. The truck seems to shift fine during accel. As you drive along the overdrive button on shift column blinks then when you slow down for a stop the tranny jerks at around 20 to 25mph....

You will need to have the trans looked at, to find out the issue.

The blinking OD light is the trans reporting an issue with the actuators or electronics.
I have not found a flash code for this in the service manual, so I think it is a general indicator.

Overdrive contoll button is blinking on 200 f-350 7.2 powerstroke

It sound is if your ABS/Speed sensor is the culpret.  Try this fairly inexpensive repair before you bring it in for a Diagnostic, which can run anywhere from $89.95 & up.  Go to the local ford dealer in your area and ask them for the ABS Sensor in your rear axle differential. The base part number being 9E731. This part runs roughly for about $20.00+ and your own time to replace it.
