SOURCE: 2002 Hyundai Accent Problem

first thing i need to know is did the timing belt break?
second is are you sure you aligned the timing marks and after the belt tensioner was tight you rechecked to make sure the timing stayed where you had it.
next step would be a compression check to if a valve was bent whenchanging the belt
i have seen this happen and this engine is an interferance engine.
later paul

DID THE BELT BREAK AND THEN IT WAS CHANGED. If so then you may have bent valve. IF NOT then vehicle may be timed wrong. SOURCE: 00 hyundai accent, wont start light on dash with

Could be as simple as a blown fuse for the ETACS module, but it sounds more like a problem with the anti theft immobilizer system. Does your car have remote keyless entry? And is the key you are using a factory key or one someone made? (factory key will be encased in bulky black plastic with hyundai logo) The transponder in the key might have worn out and is not talking to the car anymore. Some hyundais use the radio antenna to receive the signal, is there an antenna on the car? Is it hooked up? If it is a problem with the key and immobilizer system, It will unfortunately need towed to a dealer and reprogrammed.

u will have to replace the celenoid so it can work normally again or just remove the celenoid and the car wont have a shift lock any more, you can also bypass the lock by pressing on the small hole on the top left side of the shifter.. hope this helps ..

Central doorlock not working

in the event of a faulty/lost remote control or flat battery, the system can be overidden using two methods depending on the build date of the vehicle. up to september 1999 the ignition key overides the system after that date the digital key overide. The ignition key overide is in the form of a code of 5 digets recorded on a card and attached to owners manual. At the back. Code is also recorded on a tag with ignition key. If lost refer to dealer

My hyundai car (1998- accent - coupe) battery is flat and its not getting opened...since it has central locking system..

Your key should work manually (without battery) on at least one door or the trunk/hatch. Otherwise the world would be filled with abandoned hyundais with flat batteries and no way to get in! Try the passenger side door; don't expect to hear the central locking relay, but if you turn the key far enough, that door should open.
