Toyota tercel transmision problem

Changed the axles and tranmision oil on a 1997 toyota tercel. the transmision is not working. The car turns but when putting it on drive and acelarating it doesn't move. It goes from D to R to N without a problem but when back to P it makes a noise. What could be wrong?

SOURCE: oil capacity

The mitchell automotive manual says if changing your filter, 4.5 quarts. Without filter, 4.0 quarts.

Sounds like your thinking in the right area. Up on stands or hoist look for ripped boot, and/or movement at joint.

You need to have your seal replaced. I would recommend installing new bearing while you're at it. Check here: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?displayName=Differential+Seal+-+Rear&currentPage=1&categoryDisplayName=Drivetrain&navValue=11201715&itemId=1715-0&parentId=12-0

SOURCE: 2003 Toyota Corolla oil pressure light flickers

see if you have any oil level or pressure sensors. sometimes these can get gunked up. You may need a new oil pump. I suggest you start using a senthetic oil (valvoline, mobil 1 is reccomended) after u get the problem fixed.

Speedometer not reading right speed in Toyota Tercel.

Have you changed tires/wheels to a different size than was originally specified for this car? That will throw the calibration of your speedometer off. Sometimes the onboard computer can be adjusted to fix this, but you need garage professional programming equipment to do something like this if it is possible to do at all. Otherwise, if your speedometer is off and you haven't changed anything, it may need to be replaced, or the sensor on your drivewheels. Check with a mechanic.

I have a 1997 4-door Toyota Tercel, and my turn signals stopped working, but the headlights and brake lights still work. I would like to troubleshoot the fusebox, but I don't know where that is.

get a fuse tester and find out which fuse runs the turn signals, if the fuse is good, then you need to replace the turn signal / relay (usually about 5-10 $US)

Clutch or transmision

have it inspected, codes may be stored to help in diagnosing. an engine issue could cause this if a sensor is bad.

Engine shut down on freeway. Good battery, low oil but engine not seized, start relay clicks, but when key turned, nothing-headlights don't dim, idiot lights don;t dim, Nothing. 1997 Toyota Tercel

low oil boiling water sometime automatically stop the engine for further damage. stop the engine wait for sometime. fill up oil/water. check fuse/switches for engine/lights/dimmer. re start.
