SOURCE: My montana shakes/vibrates up and
Most likely a tire/wheel balance issue. The weights that are used to balance the tires can sometimes fall off. Generally how far out of balance it is determines when and how bad it will shake. Unfortunately this is not fixable without a tire balancing machine, has to got to a tire shop.
Were the tires rotated or replaced recently? Most major tire shops will check the balance for you at little or no charge if you take it back to the shop where the work was done.
You can also try to identify the problem tire by rotating the front and rear tires one side at a time. For example, if the vibration is coming from the front, swap the front and rear passenger side tires and drive the vehicle again. If the vibration moves to the back it's most likely the (now) passenger side rear tire that's out of balance. If the is no change, try the driver's side tires.
Hope this helps!
Testimonial: "Thank You Wiz. It was the wheel balance that caused the vibration. "
SOURCE: Why is it when I kick my van into 2nd gear, it shack so bad and I can't go past 60 mph
Was the exhaust converter checked for blockage?
I would say there was not enough diagnostic checking
& testing done, when the vehicle was last worked on
Shops pick & poke & guess & don't make good use out
their test equipment & you have no idea what they do or did
or understand the vehicle & work done.
May guess is you had many items from failing parts to lack
of Preventative Maintenance to work on,the shop hit on a couple
things & gave it back to you
My suggestion is: if you don't spend 15 to 20 min talking at the shop
& go for a road test & come back & get everything YOU want done
in writing, keeping in mind it's your vehicle & your in charge, then you get what you got.
Common Sense: IF the vehicle was not road tested for 15 miles or more, then it should never been given back to you,you found a problem, why didn't the shop (sloppy work/don't know or care?)
You work on a vehicle- it HAS to be confirmed your repair was the
problem they found First, then called you for your permission to
continue & install parts. No call,no parts, you don't pay or take it back
Was that ever done,doubt it
So you do no deal with those shops
You will not be in 2nd gear anywhere close to 60 mph
You could have worn engine & transaxle mounts common on that vehicle
You could have worn drive axles, both adding to vibration
They may have only gotten some of the ignition issues solved
No road test until you use it & the problems are back
