First thing to do is engage the lock out hubs on the front axels if it has them, they should say "free" or "lock". Turn them to lock. Then inside the cab on the floor hump will be the 2H 4H N 2L slector. Pull the slector lever into 4H and you are in 4WD high range. Do not drive the truck in 4WD on dry pavement, only gravel/dirt or snow. The minor difference between the front and rear wheel speeds will "wrap up" the driveline and make it hard to pull the lever out of 4WD. It is recommended that you back the truck up at least 10 feet after you remove it from 4WD to "unwrap" the drivelines. Your choice as to disengaging the front hubs, but it will save wear and tear on the front axels and dirveshaft if you disengage.

Owner Manual/Repair Manual with diagrams for 1999 F350 4x4 Diesel

Check out faxonautoliterature. They list an original Ford wiring diagram manual for your truck for $59. They also have a couple of different Ford service manuals for your engine, diagnostics and repair. If your wiring and relay problems are engine specific then a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part # 10330, will be right up your ally. For $20 it provides an excellent trouble shooting and repair manual for the DIY diesel owner. It has separate sectons for the 6.9 and 7.3 engines as well as GM. I know this isn't free but I hope it will help.

92 Ford 7.3 non-turbo won't start - worked fine minutes earlier

this may sound stupid but the next time this happens take some ice cold water and pour it over the injection pump.if it starts what you nhave is a bad pump.this is usually caused by someone washing off a hot motor and what happens is it changes the clearances just enough that hot, the pump cannot reach min injection pressure. the injection pump is located in the center front of the motor

Power locks don't engage when driving

this is form the owners manual, page 19:

The Automatic Door Locks can be enabled or disabled by
performing the following procedure:

1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition
switch.

2. Cycle the ignition switch ON/OFF four times ending
in the OFF position. (do not start the engine)

3. Within 10 seconds of the final cycle, press the interior
driver’s door lock switch to the LOCK position.

4. A single chime will sound to signify that you have
successfully completed the programming.

You can turn the feature back on by repeating the above
mentioned procedure or by performing the procedure in
the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), Customer
Programmable Features section on vehicles so
equipped.
