What type of transmission fluid for town & country ?

I have been having trouble in the colder weather with the transmission clicking into gear (drive or reverse). I was going to change the transmission fluid but cannot remember what type to use. Can anyone remember what type and where the filter is located as well ?

Transmission fluid type ATF+4.

The filter is located on the bottom of the transmission, inside the oil pan.

2002 chrysler town & country. wont change out of low gear.

I'd check fluid as required by Owner's manual no manual? Try MFG website or email their customer service, or try
manualslib.com
Otherwise you may need professional inspection to save the transmission. Also could be bad linkage and or bushings on the linkage to the transmission. Could be a similar problem with the shift lever itself, or an adjustment problem.

2003 town & country wont go into drive

If fluid and filter hasn't been changed then I would definately try that first. BE SURE, they replace fluid with MOPAR only from dealer. Chrysler transmissions are very particular about fluid, even though mechanic will tell you it's all the same, it isn't. Seen it happen time and time again where transmission acts up after fluid change of "same stuff", different brand. Then added cost of changing fluid again to MOPAR and all was well.

Engine whining

check your power steering fluid level. when level gets low low the pump will start to make noise, also in colder weather the fluid becomes thicker and if the pump is starting to fail it will create noise also,

Change of fluid and filter helps. The condition of the old oil will tell you weather there might be more damage. Debris on the oil may also be found in the transmission solenoid which controls the fluid which engages the gears. Your solenoid may be dirty or damaged. It is also possible that the valves for the 3rd gear is dirty that is why you are staying on the 2nd gear. These two components needs to be inspected further by opening the transmission.

I have a 2000 chrysier town & country 3.8 it shifts gears sometimes and then it is stuck in one gear can anyone help?

It sounds like you are either low on transmission fluid, or you have a shift solenoid or TCC Solenoid that is failing. Check the transmission fluid level when the engine is warmed up. If the fluid is at the correct level, see if your check engine light is on. If the CEL light is on, you probably have a failed Solenoid Valve. Have the code checked to find out which solenoid is faulty.
