The noise, though occurring randomly is getting louder with a longer duration. The car starts fine and even runs well (for now!) Help! What could it be?
First off: How do you know where it's coming from? If you are the only one in the car, you can not determine the source of the sound easily. The movement of the car, the speed, the whether conditions and temperature, even whether the windows are all the way down or partly opened, can all make it sound like the noise is coming from different places. Have someone (or two) ride with you and someone outside the car on the street--not IN the street--and ask where they think it's coming from. At least you can narrow it down. Does the noise get louder or softer as you speed up? Does it go away when the car gets warm? What happens when you make turns, especially tight or hard turns? How about when the brakes are applied? Louder or not? Higher or lower pitch? Etc., etc... It may simply be a loose or worn belt or it may be something expensive and complicated. Always begin with the cheapest thing first. And, I don't agree with the person who advised going for service. You don't want to be that uninformed when you go or they just might feel obliged to take advantage of you, if you get my meaning. Good luck!
Noise is a 100% hands on , eyes and ears on deal.
get it serviced.
we can guess here, there are 3000 parts, all of which can make noise.
we are blind here, we are deaf. and not only that my 3D hearing fails too, so you ask us, ? get it service with a LIVE REAL PERSON. Noise is the most hard thing to find on machines. and can be very dangerous, if it only makes noise moving ,do you, the car, and the poor machanic trying to find,it, GET IT SERVICED and stop wondering.

I have the same problem and called Honda. One of their technicians said its related to transmission fluid and is considered normal, and there's nothing to fix. :(

inspect the braking system for warped or uneven rotor surface, as this may cause this noise and uneven pad wear. CV joints also could cause this if the boots are torn, have insufficient grease, are damaged,or have worn bearings. Hopefully this helps

Have you had the water pump replaced yet? Could possibly be the water pump making noise because it's about to go.

Hi there. When reverse is engaged and drive taken-up, the engine torques in a new direction and if you look under the bonnet of your Honda you will see many vacuum pipes and hoses. My bet is that one of these has an air leak which when reversing opens-up and gives you that sound you're hearing. So first thing to do is undertake a detailed check of each and every one of those vacuum hoses - you should be looking for cracking or any dislodgement. Hope this helps, Scottech

I had the same sort of problem. I removed the DRL relay from behind the glove box, (a dark gray box, marked as DRL RElay, A screw driver will easily remove the cover from around the plug. Removed the circuit board, and resoldered about twlve connections, they looked brownish around them which indicates overheating, as a result of greater resistance from a poor connection. Fixed in 1/2 hour, from removal to driving.
