Switch is bolted on top tranny remove the bolts diconnec the connector new switch back done switch on top transmission where the shifter cable ataches

Camry code 1780

This is a problem in the Park/Neutral position switch or wiring.

Apparently Camrys of your vintage often suffer chafing and breakage of the wiring around the rear trunk lid hinge, driver's side. The backup light conductor there chafes and breaks, which the ECU sees as a fault P1780.
