My 1999 mustang is trying to load with fuel and not running wright

from:milton wright.your 1988 5.0 mustang with automatic trans.the dip stick should be under the hood,on the passenger side next to the fire wall.look down! check with the engine running,transmission in park!

check to see if fuel pump is running when key is turn on. also check fuses to pump or ignition

i would try the gas cap first. if the gas cap isnt on tight or wright that will make the check engine light come on and so forth. but check your gas cap first. hope this helps!

you haven't said if you are getting voltage and signal to the injectors, get yourself a noid light and test the injectors, you also haven't stated what fuel pressure you have

Not knowing how many miles are on it, the first thing is to change the spark plugs, fuel filter and air cleaner to start. General lack of service will cause a graudual loss in peformance.

Hi- Sorry to hear you have a problem.

!- the Fuel pump is inside the tank.
2 The fuel can dry within sealed units like the fuel filter.
If you are getting fuel past the fuel filter then I would get a can of WD40 and spray 3 to 5 seconds into the breather - intake. Then try to start the car. If it fires or tries to run OR runs as long as you spray then you know for sure it is a fuel problem. Sometimes the fuel will work it's way past the blocked a dried unit causes - enough to get it home to where you can change out the filters.

As a TEMPOROARY FIX - - you might get a 2x4 about 19 inch long. bang it GENTLY [ to not bend the fuel cell] on the bottom of the tank. Sometimes sitting makes the fuel pump develop a flat spot and do not want to turn without a little help. This doesn't always work but often it will 'get you home' to where you can do a more through fix.

Hi: Sounds like the fuel pump/sending unit has a bad ground or the connector is corroded causing intermittant working. Check the plug on the fuel sending unit for corrosion and clean. I hope this can help you...Besides its free info!!

test the fuel pressure first. use a guage and watch it till engine dies. also the guage has a bleed off hose, run a small amount of gas into a cup and check for water

I would recommend replacing your fuel filter, I also drive a V6 and after replacing my filter it really improved my milage and my car ran alot smoother. I would also recommend buying a octane fuel cleaner, that will clean out your fuel injectors if those are clogged up. If it comes down to down you may need to replace the fuel injectors, but it doesn't sound like the problem is too severe if the engine is still running which is good. I recommend not to drive until the fuel filter is replace as well as putting octane injector clearner in the gas tank. You can find the octane cleaner at Checkers for cheap.
