SOURCE: 1998 Nissan Maxima fuel pump
a volt meter on the fuel pump fuse is the first. if its getting power there must check the pump its self. pretty sure3 nissan still puts theres in the trunk. if it is theres 7 bolts to undo on the cover plate. then you will see the top of the pump. check those wires with the volt meter
SOURCE: 1998 nissan sentra cranks but wont start parks but no fuel.
Just had the same problem. replaced cap rotor, plugs wires..etc. still would crank no start. i got really angry with this so i went old skool on it, and treated it like my 1975 chevy one ton. I hammered the gas and cranked it till it sputtered and eventually started. note: by pressing the gas to the floor and cranking will put computer in recovery mode and not let new fuel in to the engine. now it is able to try to burn all the left over fuel sitting in each cylinder. after about 45sec. to a min of cranking she started to come to life again. one other problem did come up. after blowing out all the extra fuel and ****, it did blow my pre-cat o2 sensor. no big deal $45.00 at checker. hope this helps
SOURCE: fuel pump relay location
dfifrank: The relay you are seeking is locate on the driver's side of the car. The left kick panel or panel forward of the left front door pillar. There is a large box which is the ABS control unit.
There are two smaller relays with it. The relay mounted which is closest to the rear of the car is the fuel pump relay.
The relays in the fuse panel are as follows: the one to the extreme left which is located half way up the box is the ignition relay.
The one at the top right is the accessory relay and the one at the bottom right is the blower relay.
You have a pair of audio amp relay's located in the right lower kick panel and a flasher unit sometimes referred to as a relay, located further up closer to the firewall on the right kick panel.
I believe this should answer your questions and then some.
I service a lot of Maxima's consequently they are somewhat familiar to me.
