The BCM is located on the back side of the Junction Block (fuse panel located to the left of the steering wheel). To get to it you'll need to remove the Junction Block and then unscrew the BCM from the back of it.

Where do you find A BCM fuse ? I have factory service info for this vehicle an do not see a BCM or BCM fuse anywhere ! I see lock an unlock door relays in the I/P junction box . I don't see one on diagrams at http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . If there is one it would be on the drivers side under the dash behind the left kick panel .
do you replace the steering colunm with a used one? what you need to do is found the car the used steering colunm came from and pull the BCM out of it because the steering colunm and key is programmed to that BCM. the body control module is located uder the dash on the drivers side where the steering colunm is. if you need more help. here is the link to my garage I am on facebook.https://www.facebook.com/TedsRepairs
Hi. A '97 jimmy does not have a body control module (bcm), it does, however, have an engine control module (ecm) located on top of the coolant reservoir.
The BCM is located immediately above the heater controls inside the dash on my 2004 Astro. I know it controls the headlights and locks but not gauges. Haynes says the gauge fuse supplies it power....but I'm not going to bank on that one.
The "BCM" module on your van has become unreliable.
The BCM is the "Body Control Module" that all these systems go through. The issue is that these are cold soldered and after a time the solder joints break on the computer connection. It is located behind the fusebox underneath the steering wheel.
If you know someone who can solder. You can use an 8mm and a 10mm socket to remove the BCM. Open it up and resolder the joints with a soldering iron. After that everything should be fine.
It is easier than it sounds.
BODY CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL Disconnect battery negative cable. Remove lower steering column cover and knee blocker reinforcement. Disconnect two wire connectors from bottom of Body Control Module (BCM) Body Control Module . Remove bolts holding junction block (fuse Panel) to dash panel mounting bracket. Remove junction block from mounting bracket. Remove screws holding BCM to junction block. Slide BCM downward to disengage guide studs on junction block from channels on BCM mounting bracket. Remove BCM from junction block.
Re-solder Main connection points INSTALLATION Reverse the preceding operation.
It is located on the back side of the underdash fuse box (junction block). You remove the lower steering column cover and knee blocker reinforcement. Then remove two plugs from the bottom of the BCM. Remove the bolts holding the junction block to dash panel mounting bracket. Remove the junction block from the bracket. Remove screws holding the BCM to the junction block.
