SUzuki won't run, what to check

Have a 1995 suzuki that will not start, It has fire and I have tried starter fluid in the throttle body. Just put an exhaust system on. History: Would drivwe to town and it ran fine, lacking a little power but ran fine. got to town (20 Miles) and it lost power, would not accelerate, stalled once but made it almost home where it stalled and I had to get it towed the rest of the way. took exhaust off thinking clogged converter however converter was empty but muffler full of debris. had exhaust off for couple days waiting for parts and wife wanted to make sure it would start. It ran for a couple seconds then shut off, now will not start at all. any suggestions? Timing possibly?

It could be a timing belt issue. You can remove the cover on the front of the engine and look for broken teeth on the belt. You could also position the crank to Top Dead Center (TDC) and remove the #1 spark plug and check if the piston is all the way at the top of the cylinder. By moving the crankshaft GENTLY with a socket, you should be able to see the piston go down. Try placing a 1/4" extension in the spark plug hole if you cannot see the piston directly. Then, watch the extension move.

Have a 1995 suzuki sidekick that will not start. It gets fire and I have tried starting fluid in the throttle body and nothing. I just put a new exhaust system on it. Before I drove it to town then on way...

the G16 engines all need a cam belt every 60k or will do that like clock work, G16B MPI 4 injector or G16A, TBI ,one injector engine.?????????????????????????????????????????????

compression is not OK, it\'s 150psi or more.

is it? good?, and to run a 4 banger, all 4 need to work. think, 4 engines.

sure the cat broke up, that can clog some mufflers. and cause huge back pressure. (the engine pumps air, if you put a stopper in the exhaust the AIR PUMP DIES)

all engines.

its an old car.

i cant tell you what order to do things.

but my tool box is full of tools , is yours?

the cat back pressure check at the 02 is 2 psi or less at 2500 rpm, but yours dont start, so dropping the exhaust solves that.

i just rack back the exhaust manifold on the bolts/studs.

mr, Otto cycle engine is not new ,nor has it changed.

it still plays by the book , compresson, spark, fuel, in that order.

so compress x4 is what tested sparks out, WIDEOPEN throttle

80psi is common reading x4 (dont be lazy do all 4 )

80 is retarded cam, timing belt never ever serviced, and is now slipped. or heck busted

150+ is good

next is SPARK got spark on all 4?

all are dead, or #1 timing is way retared see slipped belt.

ok spark is good, and timing set.

so it runs on test fuel.

yes, , ok yes, IT WILL.

now we work fueling LAST.

cant burn fuel with no compression or timed correctly

no tools? , all is lost.

no tools , no joy.

(that means basic, meters and gauges, i assume every mech has wrenches, its a given)

Would a faulty electric fuel pump relay be the reason there is no power going down to the fuel pump in a 2002 suzuki grand vitara 2.0 rhz diesel engine

To test fuel flow, have a 2nd person stand over air filter (air filter housing open) with a can of starting fluid in one hand. Don't give any throttle, then 2nd person gives 1-second squirt into air filter while you're turning starter motor (no throttle). When engine catches, immediately give one third to one half throttle. Just before it dies, 2nd person should give another short squirt of starting fluid to keep engine from dying. If throttle won't keep engine running and only starting fluid keeps it running, then yes, no fuel is going through fuel lines. Either its a fuel pump issue or maybe there's restriction because of clogged dirty fuel filter. If it starts but runs rough and has black exhaust smoke, then its clogged or dirty fuel injectors.

03 suzuki 2.0 no start 40 psi fuel pressure 90 psi compression spark present will start/run if fed starting fluid to throttle body

sounds to me that the ecm is not telling the injectors to fire. is the check engine light on? if so, have the codes read.

Van was running fine stoped for five minutes will not start now what could it be only has 109k

does the engine turn over. If it does turn over, is it slow. If it does turn over, it could be the coil not firing, or no gas getting to the throttle body. Spray a little starter fluid in the throttle body and try to start the engine, see if it fires off at all with starter fluid. These are simply done, just hope it's nothing major. Give a little more detail about what it is doing.

The vehicle is firing but not starting

If your engine is turning over and you are certain you have ignition fire then I would next check for fuel pressure and if you have fuel pressure then check for engine compression.

1998 suzuki esteem 1.6 will not start HELP!

Having good fuel pressure is a plus (yours seems a bit high but I don't have specs) What you need to find out is if the injectors are opening and putting the fuel into the engine so it can work. Are the plugs wet with fuel or dry? Does it fire up if you spray carb cleaner into the throttle body while cranking?
