SOURCE: 1999 camry odometer is not keeping right miles

you have a worn out worm gear inside the odometer part of the cluster, these parts are replaceable either from the dealer or online stores. It is very easy fix!

My dodge ram 1500 4.7 quad cab gets terrible gas milage. my 03 got at least 16 in the city and 20 on hwy a 4.7 . this 04 wants to get 12-14 city and 17 on hwy. oh it has 20inch tires could that be a major...

If 20" tires weren't factory, your speedometer and odometer could be off by as much as 20%. Find a stretch of highway and watch odometer between two mile markers and check if it's accurate. Also depending on options, load, quality of fuel and regular maintenance have a large bearing on MPGs also make sure tire pressures are up.

It pegs out at 120 when you are going 50

Is this a chevy truck? Possibly a 2003? Gm is having SERIOUS issues with these speedometer clusters. The whole cluster is bad and would need to be replaced. I do not recommend getting a used one as the odometer stays with the cluster. ( if donor truck had 150,000 miles and yours had 50,000.... once you swap out the cluster yours would read 150,000. A dealer can order them preset.) Clusters are running about $300.00 from the local gm dealer and most will require their service dept. To repair as it would involve keeping accurate milage on the vehicle for various purposes.

Odometer quit working, if I get a used one, what will it show for milage? what's on the old one or the used one?

The used odometer mileage will be constant...you can have it re-calibrated at a local work shop if you want it to be accurate...if you do not re-do the replacement, you will need to declare at time of sale..."mileage is not accurate"...Hope this helps.

My Nissan Quest 2000 odometer and speedometer stopped working. The mechanic said that he thought it was due to a sensor and he has since replaced the sensor. He now says that the problem is still not fixed...

yes it does, this is why you have a written work order with the milage from your speedo and the milage from the replacement speedo on them with all other info for proof when selling or submitting info at secretary of state office for correct title odometer reading. Plus a lower milage speedo just makes you feel better don't it? WOW, 69,000 0n a 95? to bad its not under warranty. I just hate to spend money and not fix the problem. Ask mechanic to verify in writing that this fix will fix the problem and if not is he gonna fix with no further charges. Okay then put old sensor back in or use that money spent toward the real fix. You can't let someone just keep on guessing, you could spend $100.00 + and still not get a resolution. Just a temper.

ODOMETER DOES NOT WORK . has same milage since i brought 1 month ago i have 95 volvo 850 wagon glt

Have the same car in the saloon version with the same problem. Apparently it's common with Volvos. Probably it's a gear on the odometer that's broken. Do a search on google for this problem and you will find step by step guides on how to fix it yourself and where to buy the part.

The odometer/milage counter stopped working.

You need to replace the VSS or vehicle speed sensor. Located on LH, lefthand rear of transmission.

Odometer does not work

This is a common problem with all models of volvo, with the non digital odometer  pre 1998,, there is a tiny nylon gear deep inside the odometer that needs to be replaced. Your dealer will not fix it, but will put in a new one for you as the cost of fixing in labour is more than a new one,, My solution is much cheeper,, I have
many low milage VOLVO odometer/instr clusters, a few hi'r km 1s

ODOMETERS FROM 1987-PRESENT
I have many pre 1998 Volvo instrument clusters, most with Very low milage, almost all in Km, I have most models of Volvo.

at these prices IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE AN EXTRA ONE , comes with detailed instructions -with pictures-on how to remove your old one and re-install

just for example
I have 4,, 1994-1997 850/s70/v70 /c70turbo with less than 10,000 km
2 1994-1997 850/s70/v70/c70 non turbo with less than 10,000 km
1 1990 740 -940 turbo with less than 4.000 kms

I also have many Volvo instrument clusters from 1987 to PRESENT with varied milage,,let me know what year and model and milage you are looking for,, I will have something close
