Mileage? Ever do timming belt ?wich should be done every 50,000 miles it's what keeps engine going synchronized.if it wasn't done you could have damaged ur engine good luck
Hi More than likely, most of the Mazda range are identified as an interference, in other words when the timing belt breaks or slips the pistons will hit the valves, my advice change the belt and then compression test the cylinders before removing the head just in case god smiled on you,
I found this diagrham, by what I read, be very careful NOT to rotate any pulleys when the belt is off and put little arrows on the pulleys and belt in the same spots and flowing in the same direction to aid yourself when it is being replaced.
it should be changed with the timming belt both cam and crank seal its easy all you have to do is screew in a small screw and pull and to put a new one in just place it in get a socket of the same size and tap it in you also need to remove the timming belt un less you know what your doing bring to a pro..
be careful doing this. you have to line up the gears rightit is not a job for a novice but check out aboutauto.com and they will have data on how to do this job. if your vehicle has a lot a miles on it you should also change the front engine seals at the same time. also youtube might have a vedeo on this
