Unfortunately there are several things it could be. Check the tie rods, ball joints, calipers and shocks. All of these can cause a loud noise over bumps.

can you tell us what snaps and where it is happening in the transmission. What has been done to fix the problem or is it just replacement boxes all the time . have the boxes been professionally rebuilt or done at home
Have the rear end suspension mounts professionally checked at an accredited suspension specialist as they have a special rubber mount that fails on a regular basis. Check that the exhaust system is securely mounted and that the rubbers haven't broken off.
vr commodore don't have an actual drain plug..
When doing a service or draining the trans fluid you need to remove the whole transmission pan.there is 16 bolts you need to remove .
The most common thing on commodores when going over bumps or over pot hole in the road is rattle or knock from front.
you will more than likely need new sway bar link pins and bushes..
chexk all the bearings in front,, or remove first hte drive belt and rotetes each pulley,,, feel the nois and the sound diff old ones from new ones,,, its probably one of those bearings
See if you can bounce car and replicate the noise. If you can, you should be able to find it, and put your hand on it. Stabilizer bushing are a place to look, both at the lower a arm and on the frame. If you narrow it down to the strut, it will need to be replaced. The front trans mount also goes bad, try putting it in drive with your foot on the brake and give it some gas and see if the engine moves an excessive amount.
check your fuses and look under the hood for a black relay box and it might have a fuse in the box for head lights. The cover that comes off of relay box will tell you (inside) what each relay or fuse is for.
