It could be a number of reasons but the most common reason is, it needs a tuneup.

SOURCE: My 1998 Chevrolet Malibu will not go into drive

Likely you are looking at this backwards. Slipping causes a ton of heat. Slipping is caused by worn seals inside the transmission that allow pressure loss and partial application of drive clutches which then slip. Only way to fix this is a rebuild. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but that's just the way it works!!!

SOURCE: replace power steering pump on a 1998 chevrolet

It could be done at home if you bought the proper tool to remove and replace the pully on the pump. They do give you some sort of a tool with the new pump but I find it really weak and they brake leaving you stuck. This is why I say"If you bought the proper tool".

SOURCE: I have a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier. Front end

You may have a bad engine support. Open the hood and inspect the engine support (the one holding the engine to the chassis). It should be made up metal with hard rubber inside. If the rubbers are cracked or missing compared to the other side, then you need to have this replaced.

SOURCE: 1998 chevrolet malibu, 6 cylinders, check engine

Take it to Autozone or advance they will check it for free and reset it. It could just be a maintenance reminder.

This could be caused bya vacuum leak and causing the engine to run lean. It could also be caused by a misfire. ( spark plug or wires )

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. I just had the fuel injector fixed. My car will shake when the break is applied. Also my car will now die when I am driving it. What is going on now?

mixing the injectors wont cause that problem, the shaking will most likely come from frount suspension side, bushes, discs and so on

While the malibu is still it shakes a lot seems like it wants to turn off. I put in Neutrol and the shaking is less, what can this be?

Is the check engine light on ?
Usually when the engine is shaking you have a miss where one or more cylinders are not firing or not producing power.

My Chevy Malibu just died out of now were and when I tried starting it the engine would shake really hard and there was lose of power I got it to start and drove it of the highway and now it will not even...

Jump timing? On a Malibu?? Possible, but EXTREMELY unlikely. I would buy an explaination more like overheated, bad crank sensor, etc. I would recommend having the problem diagnosed by a reputable auto repair technician, who can also give you an estimate of the cost to repair it.

Mi malibu shake to much

Hello,

if your vehicle shakes too much, then you have to take it to your mechanic's place as quickly as possible.

The shaking means, there are some bolts that are not tight or have loosen. Situations like this needs the help of a mechanic. Its is very dangerous for you to continue driving the car in this condition.

So my advice is, visit your mechanic and let him/her check what actually is wrong.

Good luck.

My 98 Chevy Malibu v6 3.1 liter engine high idling

You probably have a large vacuum leak. With the engine running, listen under the hood for a hissing sound. Check all of the rubber lines running from the intake.

My 1998 Chevrolet Malibu will not go into drive possibly due to the transmission overheating. Once the engine cools down, I am able to put into drive. Also the gears tend to slip.
