Hi I have a 1994 318i BMW Automatic, there sims 2 be problem with shifting from 3 rd to 4 th gear and slipping with that, but if I put it in manual mode than I lose a 4 th gear all 2gether, and the

sound like the 3 rd gear clutch pack is bad that is if it is a automatic, if it is a stick shift then 3 rd gear is blown

Check sensors on the tranny

you must check the electrical connectors of each sensor..if fine all..it might be transmission hydraulically failure or each components worn out.

Depends on your engine.

Change trans fluid, just did mine and it runs like brand new with 117k miles

The 3/4 clutch is burnt. The transmission will need rebuilt or replaced.

low is first gear. sound as if d is burnt that is 3 rd gear. you need your trans rebuilt.

Thought you had an old "slip & slide powerglide" ! I like the way they originally cursed them, then all the racers wanted them all of a sudden. Anyway, if you have the TH350, which your obviously cruising and shifting manually, just go with gear selection that sounds good to you, RPM wise. I never look at a tachometer, all by ear. The TH 350 are pretty strong too. Then of course there's always a shift kit that will make it bang into next gear & chirp tires for cruising too.

my bmw did a similar thing had the shift solenoids replaced never had a problem since as for supply i am in australia so could not advise you i assume you are in the US
