If it's not under the hood, then the only other place BMW places their batteries is in the trunk. Since it's a Sport Wagon, pull up where the rear spare would be and it will be there, usually on the right hand side.

disconnect the negative battery. remove the belt by rotate the tensioner roller clockwise. from the left car side u will see three hexagon screw 13mm under the altenator. loose out the screw and remove the altenator. before that unplug the two wire behind the altenator.tq

the tensioner , have to retractit. Vitally

Your alternator belt will be routed one of these two ways, depending on wether or not you have a auxiliary tensioning roller or not.

will need a special tool for job.(belt tensioner pulley tool)
release tension with tool on belt tensioner.then remove old sepentine belt,then install new belt using same method
