The a/c operated fine the first year after purchase, I bought it used it is a 2005 jeep wrangler, straight six with 24000 miles. Now my cold air blows out the top of dash board, instead of louvers.
Re: a/c in jeep blows out of the top of dash board
Check the vaccum line that goes from the firewall to behing the glove box. I had a 2004 and it did the same thing at 35000 miles. The vaccum line needed replaced.

Well this is different since most questions now are about no heat. If one ac line is cold and the other is warm, I would suspect a blend door under the dash is not working. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents.
likely connection behind dash. Easy fix - remove dash, twist cannectors behind dash and put back together. All gauges will e working again. 10-15 mins tops
Open your hood and find a "T" connector right near the battery. Follow the line down below the battery (you will have to get under the Jeep). You will see that the line plugs into a 3 to 4 inch section of 3/16" tubing that is plugged onto a black in color, plastic box. Use a razor knife and trim off about 1/2" of this 3/16" tubing as it commonly cracks where it fits on the nipple of the black plastic box. The vacuum cannot build pressure properly with these cracks in this tubing, and therefore cause the selector door to malfunction when operating heat and a/c. It is a quick and easy five minute fix.
in order for the air to flow in the directions that we want it is in fact controlled by vacum from the engine look under the hood close to the fire wall you must have either a damaged vacum hose or it is unplugged look close to the fire wall. Also these vehicles will have a small tank called the vacum canister which will look like a black ball or on some of thse vehicles they look like a paint can they are all under the hood for easy access. Make suere that you are getting vacum from the engine and then it hooks up to the tiny hose leading into the dash board,.
I'm guessing that the top and Jeep are 2 different years.
You need to go to a salvage or junk yard to find the same plug and cut
the other one off and splice in the one you buy from the junk yard.
