Tahoe 1997 won't start. everything works bur the starter will not engage. No battery drain when trying to start. It is like the starter is not getting any juice. No clicking or any other starter noises when key is engaged. Ideas

Sounds like you may have a cable issue. You should have two positive cables one supplying power to starter and one powering vehicle. if the starter power wire is not getting good connection but other is then it will only click. check this wire for corrosion inside cable

quick way to tell... next time it won't crank and just clicks... hit it gently with a hammer as you have someone attempt to start it... if all of a sudden it cranks.... it's the starter... replace it before it quites completely.

Interesting problem, on the starter is a "trigger" wire that originates from the ignition (may run to the power distribution center). When the truck is started 12 volts runs down that wire and activates the solinoid on the starter. Put a 12 volt test light on the trigger wire by the starter, have someone hit the key to start, test light should come on, if not chase wire back and look for a break in the wire or replace trigger wire.

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.
