Cadillac CTS shutdown while driving

I would say most likely the ignition coils are bad

The dealer made their money when they sold it to you

They can fix it, but don't have very high standards for the
techs or no supervision,something !

Almost half the people that come to this site can't get a vehicle
even diagnosed at a dealer

The technology is passing everyone by

You have ignition coils on each cylinder

They only last about 6 to 7 years & will go
into failsafe if they misfire bad enough, that
is called a Class A misfire,you won't pick those
up in the shop with test equipment, maybe on a scope,
but I doubt many mechanics use one or know how

Have to just walk a new coil, road test or replace the coils,
when you have those issues

The main problem is vehicles are only driven
Never tested during the year & no one knows
that you have to do anything other than change
the oil & wait for them to break down & that is what
is happening

I would change all the ignition coils 6 or 8, replace the
front oxygen sensors & clean the maf sensor & replace
the spark plugs every 3 years, those I would have done
the week I bought it

I hope you changed ALL the fluids, power steering, trans,
brake & rear axle.

Need to road test with a professional scan tool to look at all data
& look at cylinder misfire count, fuel trim & see that the 8 monitors
run clear, you need them okey, in order to go to inspection & pass

2004 cts wont start seems to stutter while trying than battery goes dead

Battery is either discharged severely, and/or the battery needs to be replaced. This is the likely cause if the battery is 3 years or older or the car is driven infrequently.

Try to take the battery or the vehicle to a battery retailer which can test the battery to see whether it is good or bad. If it is bad, then replace.

If battery is good, and connections are clean and tight, then the starter may be going bad, but this is unlikely on Cadillacs of late model years, in my experience.

Cts 2004 cadillac,P0301 and P0302, cylinders 1 and 2 not working, i changed coils and spark plugs and still not working. i do i need to do next. thank you.

You might try parking as dark as you can, letting the engine idle and check under the hood for errant sparks due to decayed ignition/plug wires. GM saves money in some of the oddest places and I had to install new plug wires after only three years but Caddies are built so much better, right? Well, my first, a '49, did take a beating with few problems.
