SOURCE: Oil in the intake manifold air hose...

This is usually an indication of "blowback" caused by worn piston rings. How many miles on the engine? There is not a cheap solution if it is blowback.

SOURCE: Air-conditioning not icy cold inside my VW Passat TDI 1996

chances are if you system was serviced by modern equipment then they would have pulled a vacuum before recharging .. that would eliminate moisture in the system .. the evaporator is inside your heater box .. you cant see it .. the condenser is the radiator like device in front of your engine cooling radiator ..

if the system is changed properly and still does not work or works intermittantly . then there is a good chance that the air conditioner clutch electronic module is bad .. thats a relay like device located on the drivers side behind the dash .. you have to snap off the dash side panel .. its normally hidden by the door .. inside that is the fuse panel and behind that is the relays/electronic modules .. the one that operates the air conditioner clutch is marked 384 .. there are other possibilities depending on your a more precise description of the problem ..

SOURCE: i drive a vw passat

There is a bleeder valve usually located near the thermostat housing or somewhere on top of the engine. open valve until you get a flow of water. I advise not to do this when the car is at running temp or higher do this with engine cool.

SOURCE: 2002 vw passat/ front blinker replacement

Yes.... You gotta remove the air intake piece. It's plastic so it's very simple to do. Instead of a generic answer such as a website and search, here's the direct LINK where to go with the full step by step guidance on how to do this. Its a PDF document with pictures. Be prepared, though, as it's very limited space you'll be working in. Http://home.comcast.net/~slashpub/headlights/ReplacingHeadlightBulbs.pdf That link is what's mentioned here: http://www.mohea.com/mike/words/000735.html Just know that if you're ever gonna change fog lights (if your car is equipped with them) it's a whole new ball game... LoL (we had to remove the full lower bumper to get to them) Let me know if the address doesn't work and I'll guide you to another. Hope this helps.

1998 VW Passat cranks won't start. fuel pump works, fuel up to fuel rail, spark plugs do fire

Improper fuel/air mixture, possibly plugged up air filter?
You have 2 out of 3 of the needed components for that motor to run, and assuming your timing is correct and you have compression, it could be an air intake issue.

Engine diagram 96 vw passat vr6

PCV valves aren't common on European cars, instead they regulate vacuum flow by connecting a small diameter hose to a very small hole in the intake manifold or throttle body.

The other end of the hose is typically connected to the top of the engine at the oil mist and flame trap which is usually inside one of the cam covers. The main engine crankcase breather hose typically also connects there and sometimes is connected to the air cleaner side of the air intake and sometimes directly to the air filter housing.

The small hole generally needs checking during maintenance as they frequently become blocked. The hole is something like 5/64 inch but mostly it is beneficial to enlarge it just a little, say to 3/32.

Sorry can't advise you about the diaphragm valve...

1998 VW Passat 1.8T is hard to start then idle is too high

Check the engine code. If It is P0103 then your mass air flow sensor is messed up. Also the wiring on the 1.8T deteriorate easily. Finally, you might have a vacuum leak. Check the hoses in and out of the intake box.
