If you don't have the original radio, it can be done with a scanner.
same on my 2004 Silverado... When exiting the vehicle I've found that I have to lift the exit handle all the way up to engage the switch behind the door panel. After doing this a few times the switch seemed to start working... (And radio would turn off...) If it does it again I'll be removing the door panel and cleaning or replacing a switch...
The conveience delay module may have a problem if equipped. It is designed to operate some of the features with the ignition turned off( radio, wipers, power windows etc) until the driver opens the door and power is then cut to these features.
Even when you remove the key from the lock?
Try to turn the key a little more to the left to be sure to move out of the Accessory position.
Hope this helps.
It sounds to me that there is a short in the ignition switch, since the ignition switch is responsible for the power supply for all those functions. Why didn't the dealer check that?
In my opinion, it's almost certainly the radio. Even when turned off, it is still alive managing a few other things (like chimes) until you exit the vehicle, and I suspect that part of the radio is faulty.
This problem is caused by a defective door ajar switch, this is what most call a "Dome light switch" Your vehicle has a function called "delayed exit", this means the accessories stay powered up until one of the doors is opened and the Body Control Module senses it and turns off the power to all the accessories like the radio, windows etc. To verify this open the passenger door, the system should shut off.
Go into the vehicle settings with the radio
controls. With the key turned to ACC, hold DISP on the radio for about 6
seconds and it should go into settings mode. Press DISP until you see
oil life in all caps, then use Prev. & Next to scroll to reset oil
life mon., then push DISP again. you should here a beep and the display
should read Done. Scroll to Exit and press DISP again. Good luck
Your radio and accessories have a feature called delayed exit, the way it works is the options like radio will keep working as long as a door isn't opened, you either have a door switch that is always on or a delayed exit module problem, this is part of the main Body Control Module aka BCM. do the interior lights work?
