There is a switch mounted on the arm of the brake pedal (under a plastic cover held on with 3 plastic push-pins). There is an electical connection attached to this switch. In my case one of the wires had broken and was not supplying electricity to the switch. By fixing the broken wire it allowed the shifter to properly move and got the brake lights working again.

The lock cylinder is probably worn (assuming that you have the right key!) Try wiggling the key while trying to turn it. Try ay other copies that you have. If the key locks the steering you may have to move the steering wheel to get the key to turn.
SOURCE: the wrong key got stuck
Try turning the steering wheel to the left and the right while trying to turn the key , you may have set the steering lock after installing the wrong key , you may have to turn it kind of hard each way untill the the key turns once it starts you shouldn't have any problems after that.
