SOURCE: transfer case making roaring rattling sound

it's possible you might need to just change the trans case fluid.... it's a pretty simple task, i usually do all the small minor work first before i take it to a dealer to fix.... if they said you need a new trans case, but didn't tell you why, more than likely there might be something you could do yourself to make it better... those service men have been working around vehicles long enough, they should be able to tell you exactly what's wrong!
i would also do a tranny fluid change to... some of the noise could be coming from there too -- when you change either fluid, add a little lucas transmission fluid stabilizer, it helps alot with seals and makes the fluid stick to the gears better...

What could cause flywheel noise on 2004 chevy trailblazer?

Check for loose bolts on the torque converter. Under load the bolts get forced to one side of their hole.
I suppose it is also possible to have the flywheel bolts loose, so if you do not find loose torque converter bolts, keep digging.

Torque Converter Scratching Noise

REmove the inspection plate at the front of the tranny and inspect the flex drive plate . IT will have the teeth for the starter motor , 3 or 4 bolts for the torque converter and 6 bolts that attatch it to the crank. ou will probably find cracks in the plate. If so you will have to remove tranny and replace plate.

When i push the gas my car doesnt move at all i have to flor it and the it will rumble nasty bad like an earthquake inside my hood...i need help

Check your Automatic transmission fluid level. It sounds like a part called a "Torque Converter" is broken. This part connects the engine to the transmission. When this part breaks it sounds like rocks rolling inside a tincan. It can also be a broken transmission or a broken differential. Since you said the noise was coming from the hood area, I would say most likely the Torque Converter.

There are parts on the engine which can make noise, but if the engine is turning the car will move. Even if a bearing went out on anything driven by the Serpetine belt in front of the motor, the car would move.

You need to have someone look at the car who knows mechanical parts in cars. If it is the Torque Converter, it must be replaced and there is a possibiity that parts from this broken part went into the transmission and caused more damage. These were durable cars and you can get good parts from a Salvage Yard and many shops have experience rebuilding this transmission.

I sold a 1994 Crown Vic with 161,000 miles on it and there are many with over 200,000 miles that never had a breakdown of that part. If everything else is good it may be worth fixing for a reasonable amount.

Relaced transmission and now have a rattle sound comind from torque coverter area, noise gets louder when gas pedal is applied and noise goes away during shifting of transmission btu comes right back after...

your torque converter is rattling that is the clutch on the stator inside is worn out... You can stall test your torque converter ...Do this but follow correctly. put on parking brake..on the asphalt,,,, block all four wheels...push the gas to the floor for just 2 seconds...down one, two lift off gas pedal quickly..
when your doing this WATCH your RPMs they should reach to around 2200-2400 between the 2-4 rpm if not the Torque Converter is toast!!!! If your car passes the STAll test then when you tranny was put back on one of the fly wheel covers are rubbing....!!!.
