I don't believe it has a belt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The one I have 2003 Toyota Corolla has timing chain.
And I think all 2003 Toyota Corolla have timing chains.
So don't let them ( workshops) lie to you.
You can browse the internet to see if yours has a timing belt or timing chain?
Just put same question in the Google, yahoo, or about.com and search
they'll direct you to so money sites, which will show u if

SOURCE: i have a 2004 corolla

me think you um not give enough information.
You changed the belt?
Just reset it to tdc and align the marks like you were doing it for the first time.
If it is off a degree it will run. It will not run good.
Replace the tensioners when this done yes.
Align marks and reinstall.

Check timing chain on a 94 corcica 3.1 L .May have jumped time.

Take all the spark plugs out and bring #1 piston up to TDC. Look at the timing mark on the pulley. If they don't line up, then timing has jumped. If that's the case replace the chain and both the cam and crank gears.

Please buy a cheap shop manual. Get this wrong and you will be very sorry.

TIMING CHAIN

I would recommend buying a shop manual from any auto store.

If you are asking than chances are you do not have the required tools to remove the crankshaft bolt.

Remove the valve cover and verify engine is TDC
Remove all accessory belts
Remove the engine mount on the side of your accessory belts
Remove upper and lower timing chaing covers
Using a 24" 1/2" extension along with a breaker bar and crank shaft holder remove the crankshaft bolt
Remove the timing chain tensioner and remove the timing chain
It is a good idea to replace the water pump and all oil seals while doing this job.

Align all marks (balance shaft, crank, cram, and water pump if it has one) and install in reverse order.

By hand this should take 2-3 hours with the right tools
With air tools this should take 1 hour for the average joe or at least it only takes me 45 min to an hour.
